Jay Adelson: Facebook Connect is the “future of Digg”

TechCrunch is reporting that during a speech at the Web 2.0 Expo last week, Digg CEO Jay Adelson touched on how Facebook Connect could help the social news site take “the next step of collaborative filtering” and how it is tied to the “future of Digg.”

This is great news for Facebook, and more specifically the Connect team. I have had the opportunity to work with Facebook Connect for the last few weeks, working along side another CBS engineer implementing Connect on TheInsider.com.

I too believe Connect to be a huge part of where the internet is headed, and just how exciting these times are.

Facebook wants to own the social network, they are providing other websites the tools to easily implement social features on the fly from Facebook. Imagine going to any blog and being able to ‘connect’ by clicking “Login with Facebook”, and leaving a comment without ever registering. This is now possible, and only it’s only the beginning.
