MySpace Music Streamed +1 Billion Songs in a Few Days?
There is a lot of talk on the internet about MySpace streaming over a billion songs in the first few days of its’ service launch. But what MySpace is not telling you is that MySpace Music is nothing more than a new flash player on the already existing band profiles (which rank VERY high in terms of SEO ranking). I would estimate that most of the traffic that lands on these pages don’t have a MySpace account, thus don’t have the ability to turn off “auto play” — resulting in a number of started streams that never get finished.

Is this really a music streaming service or just a social network with a monetized flash player?
In my opinion, MySpace is inflating it’s numbers for the their equity partners (the 4 major record labels) — no doubt MySpace drives traffic to major bands’ profiles, but are they really monetizing that traffic with a new flash player? Probably not, but time will tell.
